This May, we accomplished the dream of teaching the workshop number 100. Which brings us to 3,010 people who have been reached with information about the use of internet and mobile technology as part of SHEVA’s project called Weaving Networks.
The ultimate purpose of this initiative is to teach girls about access to information through mobile technology (aka their smartphones) and for them to use these new sources of information to their advantage. We want all women to be connected with the world and to communicate with everyone who lives in it, in effort to help them reach their full potential and become independent. Plus! There’s a big emphasis on self esteem and internet and social media safety.
We are currently working with boys too, because we believe they are a fundamental part to women empowerment.
This month we worked with two schools from zone 18. First with EORM Santa Bárbara where 74 students attended the workshops, and later with 144 students from EOUM 454 Santa Elena III. Then we attended the very first Education Congress of 2016 of zone 18, where 41 teachers participated in our workshops. And finally, we worked with 200 students from Instituto Nacional Central de Mercadotecnia y Publicidad of zone 5 of Guatemala City.
The trainings will continue through the rest of the year, so stay tuned to see more about this wonderful project.
