Unapologetically herself, our QUEEN SHEVA of today is a talented actress and singer who everyone thinks can be their best friend. The Aca-Awesome: Anna Kendrick.
Born in Portland, Main, Anna’s parents drove her 5 hours to theater auditions in New York City when she was 10. It paid off when she got a part in a Broadway musical called High Society and got nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, at only 12 years old.
At 17, she moved to L.A. to make the pilot for a tv show that literally only taped the pilot because they realized it was really bad. So, Anna stayed in L.A. to get into the movie scene. In 2008, she made into the Twilight movies as Bella Swan’s best friend. Her appearance in Up in The Air brought her into the Academy Awards roster with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. And it was for the Aca Incredible hit Pitch Perfect that everyone wanted to be her BFF. And let’s not forget her performance as Cinderella in Into The Woods, it was amazing to see a new side of the story of Cinderella.
Her success on the movies has made her rise into the lists of creative people and most wanted actresses in lead roles. But it’s been her wit and no-bullshiting around approach to life that makes her part of the “approachable” actresses we see today (think Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone) and has found twitter as the perfect platform, for her, to convey her personality and her shower thoughts.
In 2015, she was honored at Variety’s Power of Women for her involvement in the Trevor Project, providing crisis intervention and suicide services to LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans & Queer) teens 24/7 and gave an inspiring speech stating that “Diversity is beautiful”. And she recently joined the platform DonorsChoose.org to support 31 schools in her home state of Maine. She also fights for equality and doesn’t take any *crap* from anyone.
