In the spirit of All Hallows Eve, we would like to share the lovely and inspiring story of Tom Burns and his daughter.

Tom had a tradition with his daughter, in which he let her choose their costumes for halloween each year. So after watching Star Wars for the first time, the 7-year-old wanted to be Han Solo. And so she was. When she dressed up as Han Solo, Tom proudly put on the Princess Leia costume proving to his daughter that it doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl, you can dress as whatever character you want. And all Han Solos’ need a Princess Leia, and damn do they make a very kick ass team (Tom and his daughter, of course). In Tom’s article at Huffington Post (read here), he tells us how his daughter asked him if she could be Han Solo. Just as Tom’s heart was a little afraid of his daughter’s reason why she couldn’t be Han Solo, we are afraid that girls around the world think they can’t pretend to be certain characters just because they are girls. Or that boys can’t dress as princesses because they are boys.

It is time to forget who has a penis and who has a vagina, we are all homo sapiens. We all love movies, we all love superheroes and we all love candy. Especially FREE candy!

So put on that cowboy hat, those red sparkling slippers, grab the ninja sword, drawe some blood coming out of your mouth with the vampire teeth and let your hair loose, it’s time to have fun!
