Research conducted in the University of Sussex showed that people that started reading quietly would slow down their heart rate and relax their muscles. This may be because you get to be quiet, your body isn’t under physical activities, you get to forget about your problems and lose yourself in another story.
Psychologists believe this is because the human mind has to concentrate on reading and the distraction of being taken into a literary world eases the tensions in muscles and the heart.
